DEP Seperation Letter?

My recruiting commander got my letter of separation (details why are family problems and a college offer) he gives me a call and says the letter means nothing and if i don't go I will never be able to get financial aid for school and will have a negative discharge on me which means I'll never get a good job (this is his words cause I told him someday I would like to be a cop and he said the discharge would look bad). He also said to get out I also need to talk to his superiors along with him in a room to talk options. Are these things true or should I stop contact with him completely?
