Photosynthesis/Metabolism...Pl… HELP!!!?

In an oxygen rich environment, a poison is added to animal cells to disrupt cellular metabolism. In these cells, you find a build up of pyruvate and NADH in the cytoplasm, and a preponderance of NAD+ in the mitochondrial matrix with no ATP synthesis. What is this poison likely doing to disrupt metabolism?
